FREEZE 4 FASHION?

The underwear as outerwear trend still remains with merely some thin two toned tights to cover the leg. Undeniably the stylistic image created is hot – unfortunately for us this statement is not literal. The absence of a snood and a chunky knit jumper for the winter weather, admittedly brings fear upon us women, though a true fashionista would freeze for fashion, no? Baring the cold does indeed attract attention, “She’s brave”, “She looks fierce” though the failed attempt simply reads, “She looks cold”.

It is a known fact that fashion and comfort do not often sit in the same boat, though is there a limit? Topshop’s translucent dress (above) clearly shows that there isn’t, though with its careful detailing and sheer finishing, who can complain? And so, we must embrace the cold (now and then). As easy as it is in winter to throw on a stylish jacket over a grubby outfit in the hope that no one will ever know, the waistline must be revealed from time to time. With this theory, the Cape fits nicely – a style no longer meant for the Superhero but the Superwoman. The chequered, leather shoulder form of outerwear from the Dark Nouveau collection caters for us less brave winter wearer’s. The sheepskin inner collar adds an aviator edge which makes up for the loss of the snood and with its a-line opening the outfit underneath is revealed– no more hiding ladies.

So resultantly we appreciate the collection - a superwoman silhouette, a nice mix of textures and hot pants which no longer allow our pins to undergo hibernation. Get as much sun as you can now ladies because freezing for fashion seems to be the new way…

Wardrobe Intimacy: Lauren Briggs shares her key pieces with us!
Enjoy!
My Key Wardrobe Pieces :- By Lauren Briggs
Nude Heels

These are my favourite shoes amongst my vast collection of peeptoes, platforms and patents.
Being a typical student, I turn to the high street for the new outfits I am compelled to buy for the many upcoming events in my social calendar…and as high street fashion is sometimes well, cheap (and not to mention reoccurring…i.e. you walk into a bar and spot a girl working the exact same floral printed dress as you…horror!), I tend to buy a special pair of shoes, and suddenly the bargain LBD I grabbed in a sale, becomes an expensive showstopper.
These nude Kurt Geiger stilettos have just enough detail to make a statement, and they go with almost every outfit in my ever-growing wardrobe!
The LBD
Out of my 24 little black dresses, (shocking, I know) there is one which is my absolute beloved. It’s a black Topshop jersey version of Preen’s most wanted piece from their 2008 A/W collection. Plunging neckline, clinging waist and slouching pockets, this LBD creates gorgeous curves and never fails me.
The T-shirt

For those off-duty days I like to throw on a slouchy tee and city shorts.
This tee is perfect as it’s made of linen, so it’s cool and comfortable. I bought it from Zara, which is one of my favourite shops on the high street. I love their relaxed but edgy style.
The jacket
I love to team a grunge piece with pretty florals or vintage blouses for that effortless rock chic effect. I grabbed this one in the Topshop Sale and its perfect for summer as it’s cropped and lightweight. But what I really love about this jacket is the asymmetric style, I wear it open so it drapes coolly.
Spring boots from Miss Selfridge
This year, I found shoe trends to be the most interesting. We’ve seen everything from clogs to courts and kittens to canvas. My favourite shoe trend this year has been the laced up boot. I found a gorgeous pair at Miss Selfridge on the high street. I’ve worn them all the way through spring and they are still perfect for summer and late autumn. With a pretty vintage feel they take any outfit from day to night!
Harem trousers
Again, I headed to Topshop to look for the past season’s staple trouser; the harem. I went for the casual jersey pair instead of the cool tailored style. They look effortlessly chic and are so comfortable with a drawstring waist for those chocolate-binging days!
DKNY bag
Every girl needs the perfect handbag. Nicknamed “The Bucket Bag” because of its obvious resembling shape, this is, and has been for the past year, my perfect bag. I’m usually a tan leather addict, but when I spotted this patent black DKNY number I fell for it immediately. It’s been true love ever since.

A Not-So-Secret Topshop Make-Up Launch

Secrets don’t remain secrets for long, especially in the fashion world. And as high street favourite, Topshop, prepare to launch their new make-up range on the down low, already the news is becoming common knowledge among beauty circles.
The launch is set to be the biggest news for the fashion chain since Kate Moss’ first collection. The make-up range is made up of 97 basic products in bold and innovative colours, and no doubt, considering the excitement across the internet, will be in high demand causing stampedes the day it hits stores.
Topshop have collaborated with make-up artist Hannah Murray, who has worked with top magazines and photographers and backstage at London’s most influential fashion houses. Her passion for experimenting with make-up has inspired her to create characters in women rather than simply applying products to a face.
So if you need help with your new array of Topshop make-up, look to Topshop Unique’s A/W 2010 show, where Hannah created tribal, woodland girls. Or alternatively, look to the beaches of Rio and the coolest L.A. hangouts, the hotspots where the Topshop team found their inspiration for the range.
We can’t help but wonder who will be the face of the new make-up range? Kate Moss already has a contract with Rimmel…Who do you think it will be?
It’s safe to say everyone is awaiting the range’s release in anticipation, so make space in your beauty bag and keep your eyes peeled during May for Topshop’s announcement.
