Simply a Summer Must Have! Tan Truth Smoothing Scrub and Spray...

To ensure a perfect base for your tan, we highly recommend the Tantruth True Smoothing Scrub. With small, gentle, exfoliant beads it removes dead skin cells softly but effectively. Containing a delicate fragrance, it leaves the skin fresh and lightly scented.

To achieve a flawless and even tan, we recommend using Tantruth Smoothing Spray. This should be sprayed on potential dry areas of skin such as elbows, knees, hands and feet prior to tanning. Smoothing Spray is also excellent as an all over body moisturiser to help prolong your tan.

Parisian label Malam to return to London Fashion Week with their one-of-a-kind Feminine Designs

London, UK, (May, 2011); EM Lyon Business School and ESMOD Paris Fashion School graduate, Emmanuelle Marie, will return to London Fashion Week in September to showcase her new collection from her Malam label.
Last September saw Emmanuelle make a successful London Fashion Week debut with her ‘Poupees Perdues’ (lost dolls) collection inspired by fairy tales. The collection comprised of one of a kind garments and accessories which were hand made using old, new and customised fabrics. Growing up spending most her holidays in an old fashioned castle that belonged to her great grandmother, has no doubt played a major influence in Emmanuelle’s work and interest of historical costumes and vintage styles.
Emmanuelle set up her Malam label in 2007 with an aim to reach original, romantic and self confident women. She is known for her use of lace, embroidery, vintage and unexpected patterned fabrics in her work. She hunts down beautiful antique lace and buttons and ‘gives it new life’ through her creations.
Attracting fashion press and buyers alike, Emmanuelle-Marie will be presenting her one-of-a-kind designs from her Malam label at the “A La Mode” show hosted by LGN Events on Friday 16th September 2011.

Introducing Anna Luks

We caught up with London based designer, Anna Lukindo, who will be showcasing her fabulous new collection from her Anna Luks label at our July Summer Showcase, read on to find out more about this exciting up and coming label...

Tell us a bit about your label Anna Luks...
I would describe the Anna Luks label as feminine but with an edge.  I like to use  eco-friendly fabric,  yarn, cords and ropes. I also do my own prints and zips can be seen in most of my clothes.  After graduating in 2010 I launched my 1st collection Colour Explosion and I am now  about to launch my  second  collection called Jungle Paradise . My style is unique and I believe Anna Luks clothing and accessories are for people who want a creative difference.
What do you love most about your home country Tanzania?
This question takes me way back when my dad; may the Lord rest his soul in peace, used to sing “There is no place like home” Unfortunately I can only remember the chorus, but he always sang that when he was at the back yard doing gardening and isn’t it true? No matter where you are, successful or not, east or west, home will always is the best.
The stunning natural landscapes, the open, friendly and welcoming people, the food and of course the national parks full of wild animals and I am proud that we have a highest mountain in Africa. Tanzania, The land of Kilimanjaro is one of the most peaceful ( fingers-crossed)  countries in Africa and with more than 120 different tribes living harmoniously. The sun, sea, sandy beaches and of course the people makes the country very colourful.

What motivated you to move to London?
We all have our goals! I always wanted to pursue my dream of becoming a textile and clothing designer and London is the place to be.
What attracted you to a career in fashion?
Firstly as a little girl I was inspired by my mum as she was always very stylish - I loved to play  dress up and make clothing creations. Although I never thought I would have a career in fashion as I worked as draughtswoman. But once in London I decided to study textiles and did do the  Diploma in Fashion and Textiles - but on strong recommendation from friends destiny led me to studying  BA Fashion at Middlesex University. The rest is history as they say and I now love the idea that I have the freedom to  create my own designs  under the umbrella of the  Anna Luks label.
What is the most rewarding thing about being a fashion designer?
I don’t like to call myself a fashion designer I just like to have the freedom of not worrying about creating  'what's in fashion'or following trends  - I  love to create something from nothing , giving  it new  life and  the reward is obviously to see  my designs on  the runway,  a magazine and hopefully  one day in my own boutique.
Where do you get inspiration from?
It could it be from anything that I find interesting – such as a buildings, artwork, nature, places I visit,   classic movies, music, books and different cultures.
How has your qualifications helped your career?
I am so glad I went to one of the best fashion designing Universities.  Middlesex University helped me to fulfil my dreams, it showed me a different world of applying techniques, and boosted my passion for research – doing research is good because it makes you come out of the box – and you become more creative!

Your designs are made from yarns, ropes, cords and zips why do you choose such materials?
As a naturally tactile person I love working with different textures  -  So yes  I love using materials that reflect this in my work and I believe they make the look of my designs and accessories more interesting  -  equally important they are eco-friendly and in fashion you can almost make anything fashionable. In regards to the use of zips in my clothes they totally bring edginess to my work in addition I also create my own prints.
How do you manage to incorporate your architectural background to your designs?
I appreciate having this background as just by looking at a building or anything within it ( e.g. exterior shape and form, an archway, ceilings, stair banister,  door handle)  it immediately gives me an idea of an Anna Luks clothing silhouette. I also like to take a lot of pictures and visit libraries to get more details about a particular building that has inspired me.
Would you describe your designs as ‘avant Garde’?
Some of them, yes!
What can we expect at the LGN Event Summer showcase?
My new collection Jungle Paradise various accessories – its going to be edgy, fun, and just simply magnifique!

White Gallery London

This year the White Gallery London event had over 40 international designers showcasing their 2012 collection of bridal wear, evening wear and accessories on May 22- 24th at Battersea Evolution.

There was an array of talented designers present like Ian Stuart, Stephanie Allin and Alan Hannah. The collection of designers also included the infamous Mathew Williamson who showcased his first bridal wear range on the first day of the show.

Ian Stuart's collection was breath-taking and glamorous. Already with a vast international audience Stuart wowed the audience filled with press and buyers with a production inspired by the era of hollywood musical.

The music, the lighting, the models and the dresses created a fun and vibrant atmosphere. Our favourite from the show has to be the Basilica which mimicked the dress which the new duchess of Cambridge wore on her big day.

Stephanie Allin's latest collection was inspired by the jazz era in the 1930s and she kept to her signature of corsetry and structure.

The Allan Hannah label has been around for 21 years and the reason why is very obvious. The new collection was about creating glamour with interchangeable accessories like boleros.

Other designers who showcased on the catwalk included, Hollywood dreams, Johanna Hehir, Sharon Bowen and many more.

Apart from the already known array of designers there was also a catwalk show that showcased some amazing designs by new talents like Tobi Hannah. Terry Fox and Elizabeth Stuart.

Other brands at the event were Vivian Sheriff Millinery who was there exhibiting her hat collection, Polly Edwards with her jewellery and Rachel Simpson with shoes.

It seems like the trend for 2012 bridal wear is glamour, many of those who showcased re- created the Hollywood glamour look with the hair which was by Michael Van Clarke and the make-up which was by Benefit cosmetics.

It also looks like brands were influenced by the new Duchess of Cambridge and her sister Pippa Middleton because various dresses from their collections were inspired by their gowns

Introducing Agnieszka Swiatly

When did you set up your Label and what prompted you set it up?
I began designing about 10 years ago. At first single pieces. The brand was established in 2008, when my first designer’s collection signed with my name came out. Everything became much easier after that. I love my job, and I can’t imagine my life without design in it. The smile of my satisfied clients, as well as the acceptance in the sphere of designers is priceless for me.  This is why I know I choose the right path in life.
Who are your designs targeted at?
I design for women who appreciate unique, stylish and very elegant clothing, in which they can feel luxurious. Everything I make is very unique, and this is the feeling that I want my clients to feel when putting on my collection.

Your brand has received countless press coverage. What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Up to this point I have had many publications in polish press. This is undoubtedly a distinction and appreciation of my work.
It’s hard to pinpoint the most important moment in my career. I think that as I change, my collections change also. When my daughter was born, I began looking at the world and at myself as a real woman. This is noticeable in my designs.

Where did you get inspiration for the s/s 2012 collection from?
The spring/summer 2012 collection is an important moment in my career. It’s the first time I used patterns and motifs from the animal kingdom. I was mostly inspired by materials I found in Italy. I did not steer away from my characteristic style, which is a combination of classic style and drapes.
What is your favorite fabric to work with?
Silk! Definatly silk! Its light weight, and luxurious feel inspires me. I love the feeling of this material on my skin.

Who would you love you see in one of your designs?
I would like to see my designs worn by beautiful women, happy with their image, proud and elegant.  I would like to break through the gray we meet every day, and with my designs add some magic to the world.
You will be showcasing at the LGN events summer showcase, will this be your first time showcasing in London?
Yes, this will be my debut in London. I hope that my newest collection will be accepted and that this will be one of many shows.

When did you set up your Label?
Beginning of 2011 after gaining relevant qualifications and experience in the fashion industry.
How would you describe your designs?
I would describe my designs as unique and stylish. I like using different printing techniques as I feel this sets my designs apart from other labels.
Who are your designs targeted at?
My designs are targeted at fashion concious women who have an eye for style and like to be a bit more original and unique.
How did it feel to be runner up for the business enterprise award 2010?
It felt quite surreal as I never imagined I would get that far in the competition! This then gave me the confidence and 'push' I needed to start my own label. The prize money helped buy essential equiptment that I needed to start my own label.
How has your fashion background helped you in your career?
I feel that my background in fashion has helped massively in my career as I feel I have gained essential skills and knowledge to hopefully survive in the industry. Networking within the fashion industry through various events has gained me many contacts and also helps gain recognition for my label.
Will the July Summer showcase be your first time showcasing in London?
Yes it will be my first showcase in London as all my showcases so far have been in Scotland.
If you could pick any celebrity to run your campaign, who would it be and why?
I would like to see a celebrity running my campaign who I could see (and would like) wearing my label. This would be someone like Jessica Stroup, Rachel Bilson or Blake Lively. I think they have effortless style :)

Introducing Rose Willis

Tell us a bit about your label 'Rose Willis'?
My label ‘Rose Willis’ came about after I had finished university and realized that starting my own label is where my passion lied. I design with an edge and with personality. My collections are always filled with bold colors and prints for a quirky look.

Who are your target customers?
I design for young women who want something unique to wear. My customers are bold with there style and know what they like. I design clothes that I know will look good on a woman.

What would you say was the most crucial thing you learned from your Fashion Degree?

I learnt from my degree to be myself. That is why I put my own personality in everything I design. I don’t try to be something I’m not, I always design clothes that I would wear.

Describe what fashion in Surrey is like.

I have the luxury of working in a little studio in my back garden, but I am also 20mins away from central London so I have the best of both worlds.

Who is your muse?
My muse is women who are fierce with there style, they wear what they want with confidence and with personality.

Your designs are very vibrant in colour. Where do you draw your inspiration? Color to me is so important to me when designing, colors reflect my mood and the collections. I feel if I have something to say then I say it in the way I dress. I am inspired by many things music, art, and nature are a few.

You collection is called Crypsis. What does this mean?

Crypsis is when animals blend in to their environment, camouflage. Butterflies and the shapes and colours on their wings inspired my collection. I drew my own prints from observations of the patterns on the butterfly’s wings and also used the colors I saw.

You will be showcasing at the LGN Events summer showcase. What should we expect?
I am making a new collection for the event, expect lots more color and prints. My collection will have a fresh look with flowing fabrics and shapes.

Where do you see your brand in 5 years?

I have already had the opportunity to sell some of my designs in a small boutique but I would like to sell in bigger and well known boutiques and stores around the world. I would like my label to be known and popular with customers and fans. I would also love to show at London fashion week

Independent brand nicci.n teams up with upmarket Scottish boutique Meloosha

An upmarket ladies boutique in Edinburgh's fashionable West End is awaiting delivery of a range of designer clothing created and produced in Scotland. The work is that of up and coming young designer Nicola Napier (28) and will be showcased at a fashion show in the city later this month.
Nicola, who has a Masters degree in International fashion marketing, has teamed up with upmarket boutique, Meloosha at the west end's Alva Street and is soon to reveal her exciting new brand. She recognised a gap in the market for designer labels at affordable prices and her creativity and talent were embraced by Meloosha's director, Melody Wishart. Melody was so impressed by Nicola's work and by the fact that it would carry the tag 'Made in Scotland' on its labels, she invited her to design a capsule collection to be sold exclusively in her store.
The brand nicci.n. has been designed with Meloosha's specific customers in mind and consists of Ombre silk, chiffon, jersey and print and will see sleeved maxi dresses, mid-length printed and chiffon dressses and an excitiing colour palette of greys, duckegg blue, teal, tan and chocolate brown. The work will all be designed and produced in Edinburgh and Meloosha promises excellent value for money.
Meloosha is looking forward to unveiling the Scottish nicci.n. label to her valued clients and to the wider public at a fashion show on May 25th, 6.30 for 7pm start, at St. George's West Church on Shandwick Place.
Meloosha is delighted with their new Scottish brand which will perfectly compliment the range of international labels they already have in store.
Tickets for the event will cost £5 and are available from Meloosha, at 34 Alva Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4PY or by telephone on: 0131 225 3198
