First offical Sex and the City fragrance collection launches : A Great Xmas Gift!

Sex and the City, the landmark HBO series that continues to influence fashion trends and lifestyle choices amongst fans worldwide, has inspired a line of signature eau de perfumes created by Givaudan under a licensing agreement  between HBO and JTG Trading Company who will manufacture and distribute the collection worldwide.   The sassy style of Carrie Bradshaw, the confidence of Miranda Hobbes, the sensuality of Samantha Jones, and the classic style of Charlotte York are now contained in two new fragrances “Sex and City” and “Sex and the City by Night,” as well as “Sex and the City” Body Collections sets, which will debut at the HBO Shop (www.store.hbouk.com) and Wilkinson locations in November and will expand through Europe early next year. 

The new fragrances were developed by three of Givaudan’s top perfumers:  Adriana Medina, well known for her creations for Gwen Stefani and Ed Hardy; Rodrigo Flores-Roux, who has created scents for Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss and Estée Lauder; and Claude Dir, the fragrance creator behind Bobbi Brown and Tommy Hilfiger colognes.

The “Sex and the City” perfume captures New York City’s energy and unique sensibility. With fresh top notes of Italian mandarin, juicy blood orange, red and pink berries and a subtle touch of passion fruit, the heart of this perfume is feminine, soft and flowery, with scents derived from jasmine, gardenia leaves and orange blossom. The velvety musk, sandalwood, caramel and amber in the base note provide the fragrance’s final statement of finesse, style and elegance.

With its sensuous, ultra feminine allure, “Sex and the City by Night” is the perfume equivalent of the little black dress. Fresh top notes of sparkling bergamot, pear blossom, dewy freesia leaves and neroli bring glamour to the fore. The heart of the perfume develops into a lush bouquet of night jasmine, peony, vanilla orchard and a surprising accent of fruity pomegranate, with the base note offering a beguiling, luxurious and slight powdery essence delivered by the warm blend of sandalwood, amber crystals, tonka beans, musk and patchouli.

Alluring Perfumes Galore!

The Perfume Shop Press Event that we attended was of course perfumes galore! We had truly walked up the stairway to heaven. Champagne, cupcakes and scattered diamonds (well not exactly real diamonds, diamantes, diamonds just sound more lavish!) All that was left was for us to spray away and whiff the sensual scents of the most luxury and divine perfumes there are to offer. Being surrounded by an array of fragrances we got scouting for the best scents, so here are some of the highlights.

Rihanna’s debut scent titled Reb’l Fleur is truly RiRi. The musky, fruity scent is as fun, feminine and edgy as the Barbadian beauty. The bottle is very glamorous with the colours black and gold keeping intact with the richness of the scent. You only have to turn it around to see that it’s actually a stiletto heel! 
Next up we came across the macho Hugo Boss brand, where we were a little distracted by the giant print of Jered Leto fronting the newest scent Hugo Just Different. This scent is all about the urban and uber cool male with a smell of confidence. This particularly attractive display was accompanied by Hugo’s long running scents as they return in new packaging and vintage style flask bottles.

It seemed that we were in a farmers market at one point, DKNY fronted a fabulous display on charming food carts filled with delicious apples- being the fragrances and edible toffee apples! Keeping intact with the big apple theme, the apples continue to conquer the world with DKNY Golden Delicious and Delicious Candy Apples which are sure to lure us in The Perfume Shop. The scents are sweet and like no other, Delicious Candy Apples in particular are perfectly appropriate for this summer. 
 
It was only a matter of time till crystal giant Swarovski would launch their debut perfume and Aura is all that one would expect from Swarovski, pure elegance and luxury. Aura is an aroma of incandescent, fruity and floral freshness made to perfection as the bottle is topped with a unique crystal, sure to be a keepsake and to add a touch of sparkle to your dressing table.  

Thierry Mugler’s Angel returns with a star. The distinctively designed bottle takes form of a star which is enchanting and whimsical, almost nostalgic just creator Mugler described the idea of tenderness and childhood in his brand. Angel also has a great ecological approach as you can return to The Perfume Shop with your empty perfume bottle and get it refilled at a discounted price!

An explosion has hit the world of fragrance in the shape of Marc Jacobs’ new scent for men, ‘BANG’

This is the designer’s first fragrance for men, and is expected to make a big impression. So who better to front the ad campaign than the man himself? And with 11 years of collaboration with Jacobs, it came as no surprise that racy fashion photographer Juergen Teller would be the ideal candidate to shoot the campaign. The outcome didn’t fall short of impressive, with a foiled, oiled and naked Jacobs, posing with a strategically placed oversized bottle of perfume.

Reactions were certainly encouraging at the launch party, held on the fifth floor restaurant of Harvey Nichols in London, where A-listers were queuing up to pester and praise the designer, whilst sipping on cocktails equipped with ice cubes amusingly spelling out ‘BANG’.

But the fun and drama doesn’t end there…to accompany the launch of the fragrance Jacobs’ has stepped humorously onto the social networking bandwagon, with a witty Facebook game named ‘BANG! You’re It!’. The game takes Facebook poking to a whole new level, where you can ‘BANG’ your friends for points. The more points you receive, the more chance you have of winning Marc Jacobs goodies and prizes, including a VIP trip to New York with front row seats at an MJ runway show.

The bottle, as chic as the man himself, is silver tone and looks as if it has taken a bullet to its center. Fans can purchase the bottle of a fresh, peppery and woodsy scent in Marc Jacobs stores and Bloomingdales. The fragrance will be available worldwide as of September 2010!

With his stunning campaign, we’re sure the designer’s success will grow in the world of men’s fragrance, and we’re looking forward to seeing what exciting prospects Jacobs has in mind for his brand for the rest of the year…
