Immediate Release

London, UK (November 2010); Edgy LA-based designer Alana Hale will be taking to the stage at LGN Events’ off-schedule London Fashion Week show “A La Mode” in February 2011.

Hailing from Los Angeles, Alana Hale has fantasized about becoming a designer since a very young age. Marketing a line of clutch bags by the age of 9 and working for the family glove business at 15, she has always been surrounded by fashion. Following this she attended FIDM in Los Angeles and studied abroad in the fashion capital of the world, Paris, before returning home to work as an assistant designer for an LA-based contemporary womenswear company.

Alana started designing under her own label two years ago and recently launched her signature collection at her Holiday 2010 Fashion Show in Los Angeles. Having dressed Paula Abdul for the American Idol Season Finale in 2010, Alana's collection has quickly become a favourite with celebrities and stylists alike. She is currently developing a jewellery line with ice-skating and fashion extraordinaire, Johnny Weir and is credited with "spot on creations that leave you salivating for more!"

Incorporating feathers, netting and leather and using classic on-trend colour palettes, Alana’s work evokes the edgy glamour Tinsel Town is known for.

Fearne-tastic Style!!!

No stranger to the public eye, Fearne Cotton (our beloved Radio 1 presenter) never ceases to please us with her presence on and off camera. Her already gorgeous looks are envied by all, but it’s how she uses them in tandem with her wardrobe choices that makes us wonder how to look as effortlessly chic as she does.

Although she may not be in the extreme-dressed category unlike Lady Gaga and Rihanna, Miss Cotton manages to hold her own in the media pretty well. Believe it or not, pulling off a Fearne Cotton inspired ensemble is not as difficult as it seems – with the use of high street brands.
Earlier this very year, Fearne was photographed at the Brit Awards dressed appropriately for the occasion as seen below:

I personally believe that Fearne hit a home run with this ensemble.
However, like every celebrity; Fearne Cotton has also had her share of fashion mistakes. Most recently whilst filming her new ITV2 show with fellow fashionable fatale, Mischa Barton. Fortunately for her, the outfit was not a complete miss.

Zara Martin: Hot property or What????

Make way, make way! A new style icon has arrived and she goes by the name of Zara Martin. This presenter may just be the hottest thing since Jameela Jamil. After beginning her presenting career with her own show on Current TV, she is now recognised as an MTV presenter, and has built up the fashion status to present this year’s London Fashion Weekend in September. Aside from being a model, presenter and an actress she has also worked with fashion house BodyAmr in designing a Capsule collection, one of which will be launched at London Fashion Week 2010 – excitement!

As we continue to see the star at numerous events, her cutesy bold style is becoming more and more noticeable. She appears to be a big fan of the bold print (particularly leopard) and is not afraid to mix and match – we admire her braveness. Her printed panel dress, tassel clutch and Op Art style heels (centre) are an example of this. The outfit screams out fierce, high from the top of the mountains and we all listen obediently. Key items to her wardrobe are a number of mini dresses, colourful clutches and a range of Charlotte Olympia shoes - the misfit black ankle socks paired with the pink shoes (above) is utterly genius.

Contrasting accessories are a key feature to Zara’s style. The Domakaya clutch bag (below) is indeed the icing to her outfit with its sweet texture, unique shape, fine embroidery and of course, the lovely green eyed monster that follows… She has proven to be one for texture, with a range of luxurious fur jackets and quilted clutches as some of her wardrobe essentials.

Although the presenter appears to be a sucker for the animal print, she also has a tamed side to her style with her long golden locks instantly reflecting the boho trend. This style was carried off at Graduate Fashion Week with her white, goddess ensemble and her cute hippy headgear. So main points to make on the style icon: it is all above the knee where Zara is concerned and there is always a cinched waist belt in the mix, without forgetting the colourful clutch. With all this, her style remains effortless and she is definitely one to watch out for. We must not line up in envy, but take notes.

A QUICK-FIRE CONVERSATION WITH FURNE ONE

Here, the self-confessed workaholic whose perfect day involves 'quality time spent working', shares his thoughts and tales on fashion.

Q. How would you describe your designs? Your styles?

A.It's a piece of conversation. The designs are strong, flamboyant, full of life and energy. My styles for my couture and prêt couture are derived from movies, books and theatre.

Q. Describe the creative process.

A. Impulse, draw, create.
Designs evolve through stages. On paper to final designs differ as creations and collaboration to final fittings take shape as it evolves. It takes an estimated 3-5 months to complete a collection.
Q. Who is your muse?

A. It varies for all my collections.
My current is the Countess Elizabeth Bathory from the movie,"Countess",
17th century couture and the mystery surrounding the era. My previous muse was
Marie Antoinette. The collection was named The Dream of Heaven.

Q. Describe the Amato woman.

A. Strong, independent, not afraid to dictate what she wants, experiment with her
styles. Her perfume : Stella and Agent Provocateur Her lifestyle : goes to the opera, an art lover

Q. Which celebrity/supermodel would you like to wear your clothes? And why?

A. I would love to dress Cate Blancett. She has a strong personality; she's not afraid to explore and dictate her sense of fashion.

Q. Who are the fashion designers you admire and emulate? Why?

A. I love designers who have their own distinctive style and signature. John Galliano and the late Alexander McQueen come to mind. I'm also an avid fan of Tim Burton movies.

Q. You work with lots of embellishments and textures like handpainting, embroidery, fabric flowers, crystals and moonstones. What excites you about them?

A. I love the fabrication and the textures of these embellishments. I can create collages for my designs with them.

Q. What are your future plans for your brand?

A. Expand to prêt-a-porter and diffusion lines, perhaps.

Q. What would be the pinnacle of your career and creativity?

A. World domination? (he laughs) To inspire creativity in the fashion world, to
stay true to what I love. To be known as an artist in his own right? Truly believe in keeping the 'hunger' for fashion alive.

Q. How would you like to be remembered in the realm of fashion?

A. A designer with a lot of drama! (puts his arm on his forehead, diva style!)

Filipino-born designer brings the epitome of modern decadence and elegance to the UK at LFW

Since being invited to Miami Fashion Week 2009 where he delivered a show stopping 39-piece collection, Amato Couture’s Furne One is set to storm the UK to expand his international following. The Filipino born haute couture genius will be exhibiting his latest creations at the lavish Charing Cross Hotel at the off-schedule ‘A La Mode’ fashion show on 17th September 2010.
Already a regular on the pages of Hello, OK, Harper’s Bazaar and Grazia, this designer has a strong following of elegant and decadent women across the United Arab Emirates, and throughout Germany. Having been awarded Grazia’s Middle East Style award for ‘Best Regional Designer’, the brands repeated TV appearances on Germany’s Next Top Model (arranged by supermodel fan Heidi Klum) has alerted Europe of his vision and caused widespread interest in his gowns.

Combining a beautifully well blended mix of Eastern styles from his heritage, and Western, from his love for Alexander McQueen and John Galliano, Amato’s jewel encrusted gowns are created “for the strong independent woman who is not afraid to dictate what she wants”. Along with the distinctive style of British fashion designers, Furne takes inspiration from 17th Century couture and cameos, lace and antiques from the era. The elements of mystery they emulate have a clear influence on his designs.

Furne is clearly a man who knows his vision; something defined by his idea of the pinnacle of his career: world domination.

If his track record is anything to go by, once Amato Couture hits the catwalk in the UK, there will be no stopping this unique and talented designer.

Project Catwalk's Tom Lipop to showcase at London Fashion Week

Lipop London to showcase their latest menswear collection at London Fashion Week's 'A La Mode' show hosted by La Geneve North Events.

Taking to the ramp at this year’s ‘A La Mode’ London Fashion week event will be ultra talented and innovative Tom Lipop, creative head of Lipop London. Brighton bred London based fashion designer Tom debuted his collection ‘Battle of The Sardines’ at Brighton Fashion Week 2009 and is set to wow this year’s fashion collective with his newest creations.

Upon completion of a challenging BA Hons degree in Fashion and Textiles (menswear), the Lipop London mastermind went onto successfully participate in Sky One’s ‘Project Catwalk.’ His participation in the show not only showed his resilience in such a demanding and tough environment but displayed his high-level of design competence and his ability and vigour to thrive in the competitive fashion industry. Partaking in ‘Project Catwalk’ equipped Lipop with the skills to fulfil design and pattern cutting roles at Griffin Laundry, House of Holland, Halfpenny London and Nathan Jenden.

It is Lipop’s infatuation with creating contemporary and forward thinking garments inspired heavily by the long historical lineage of British fashion which has been expressed through his own Avant Garde collections. One not to follow trends but to set them, Lipop has innovated a very distinct handwriting using striking illustration, technical cutting, experimenting with new fabrics, and garment construction. Parallel to his own creations, Lipop, who held a senior design position at House of Holland aspires to great designers such as Massimo Osti and Henrik Vibskov; two designers he claims who “push the boundaries of fashion craft with successful, conceptual and aesthetically progressive garments.”

The ‘A La Mode’ Catwalk will take place at the lavish Charing Cross Hotel located on The Strand on Friday 17th September 2010, the first day of one of fashions’ most anticipated event; London Fashion Week 2010.

Attracting press and fashion industry alike, Tom will be presenting his highly awaited collection at the “A La Mode” show from 7.30pm.

Press and buyers wishing to attend the show should email Terri at Theresa@lagenevenorth.co.uk
